THE WORLD ISLAND’S FIRST CLIMATE-CONTROLLED ZONE

Conceptually, the Raining Street is inspired by a 150-year-old architectural concept of Camillo Sitte, an Austrian architect, who proposed to build cities where everything was within walking distance. However, in the Middle East, temperatures can be prohibitively hot during summer for people to walk outside – even if the streets and boulevards are within walkable distances. This is where technology makes the difference. The Raining Street is a sustainable project as it uses solar energy and produces zero carbon emissions. What’s more, being the first of its kind in the world, it has already become a major attraction and quite possibly the coolest insta-spot in the country!
